Only the lantern let him see their bodies pressed up against the tent surface from the outside. Human in form, they threw themselves at the sidewalls, lacking the power or weight to break through. They had just enough existence to leave their impression on the tent and make it lean violently from side to side.
All night they worked, attempting to get in. They gave up as the first light came over the horizon.
